Pacific Premier League (PPL) is an under 21 cricket league held annually in Udaipur. It began as a vision in the mind of Aman Agrawal, the executive director at Pacific Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). From a little age, a lack of opportunities in the field of cricket bugged his eyes. This led to the beginning of one of the greatest achievements of his life, the Pacific Premier League
Major Events Of PPL
The 6 major events of this league are as follows:
1. Selection Process Of Players (Trials):
Our team is entirely invested in providing opportunities to deserving talent. Their current potential is tested instead of giving emphasis to the past year’s performance.
All the players who fill in the form are invited for trials. From numerous entries that we receive every year, only the sharpest are selected. In the last year, we received forms from 487 players. Out of the total entries, only 120 players are selected every year.
2. Auction :
For fair division of the team, players are selected on a point auction basis. Auction is conducted in the presence of team owners and respective coaches.
3. Trophy Inauguration :
In the first season, Mr. Stuart Binny and Ms. Mayanti Langer inaugurated the ceremony for the Winner and Runner Up trophies.
For the second season, Mr. Amay Khurasiya inaugurated the trophies.
4. Opening Ceremony :
The entire details of the league are announced in the opening ceremony. From the past two years, some well-known faces were seen inaugurating the ceremonies.
In the first season, Mr. Ajay Jadega and Mr. Lakshya Raj Sign Ji delighted us with their presence.
Mr. PV Shetty was seen inaugurating the ceremony in the second season.
5. League Matches :
The 32-action packed matches are conducted with some of the most talented players from India and around the world.
6. Closing Ceremony :
This ceremony celebrates the success and hard work of the players. The winners are congratulated with trophies, cricket equipment, medals, etc.
The chief guests for the first and second season were Mr. Rahul Agrawal and Mr. Munaf Patel respectively.
How Does PPL Lead To The Overall Development Of The Players?
With this tournament, every player gets an equal opportunity of batting and bowling to ensure their overall growth. Our major aim is to develop their leadership skills and prepare them for the next level. As 8 different teams are prepared, more children get to play the leadership role, thereby enhancing their current skills.
On the flip side, if only one team is prepared to go and play, only a few children will get the exposure they deserve. This leaves a bad impact on the players who were willing to step up into the field and play like never before.
As said earlier, PPL is invested in preparing the future cricketers for team India. With their commendable performance, the under-19 team proved to be worth the invested efforts. Instead of just a game, players started feeling the personal touch which led to even improved performance.
The tournament is generally conducted at a time that’s viable for the players. They are organized during the “no exam” and BCCI activities phase. We ensure that the children are free enough to dedicate all their time, attention, and effort to the game. Unnecessary distractions will only affect their performance in the game.
